Simbol Test Systems is the most renown Ando (Yokogawa) independant OSA calibration lab in the world. Our experience started in 2000 through a collaboration with Ando now owned by Yokogawa (Simbol no longer has a business partnership with Yokogawa). Over the years, Simbol developed custom software allowing automatic calibration tests and the writing of up to date results in the OSA calibration tables. Simbol Test Systems can perform most repairs on Anritsu optical test equipment. We cannot repair the optical section of the Anritsu MG9638A TLS and strongly suggest moving to an inexpensive and robust Agilent 86140A if your Anritsu is defect. The MS9710B and MS9710C OSAs are known to suffer some encoder defects that are not possible to fix due to shortage of the custom part that was made especially for Anritsu. If your Anritsu unit does not pass calibration, we will quote a its repair and recalibration assuming we can perform the needed repair.

Bristol Instruments was created in 2005 by three technical and marketing leaders from the photonics industry. They are veterans of the former Burleigh Instruments, a scientific instrumentation company founded in the early 1970s and acquired by Exfo in 2000. Exfo, in time, abandonned most of the products Burleigh was making at time of acquisition. Today Bristol is renown for its Wavelength Meters (wavemeters) but many other products.

Simbol Test Systems has extensive knowlege of Burleigh products; specifically the Wavemeter line so WA1000, WA1500, WA1100, WA1600, WA7100, WA7600 and more. For a time, Exfo (who owns the Burleigh trademark) was refering their Burleigh customers to Simbol since they were no longer supporting the old Burleigh units. To be able to support Burleigh Wavemeter owners, Simbol had to design its own HeNe Laser stabilizer as such laser would no longer be sold in small quantities by Melles-Griot. Photonetics S.A., was a privately held French company known for supplying test equipment in the early days of optic-fiber networks. It was sold to GN Great Nordic in 2000 and became part of GN NetTest . The most famous line of product made by Photonetics was its suite of Tunable Laser Sources (TLS). Photonetics was the supplier of TLS to JDSU which was rebranding them. The JDSU SWS15101, SWS16101 and SWS17101 were in essence Photonetics Tunable Lasers sold by JDSU now Viavi. GN NetTest later became simply NetTest and was acquired by Anritsu. In 2009, Anritsu transfered a selection of NetTest optical instruments to Yenista which was 2003 start-up in France. In 2017, Exfo completed the acquisition of Yenista.

Simbol Test Systems has a lot of experience in the troubleshooting, repair and calibration of JDSU/Viavi equipment. When Viavi was created, it was decided it would no longer support many of the legacy JDSU branded optical test products such as RM meters, Attenuators, Optical Switches, etc. An agreement was reached between Viavi and Simbol so JDSU Customer support would refer customers in needs of service for such equipment to Simbol. Over the years, Simbol also gained experience in the repair and calibration of Viavi branded products mostly its MAP modular test platform and the numerous modules that can be fit in that mainframe.
