Don't rely on laboratories taking your attenuators in for calibration ending up testing 2 wavelengths and 2 power levels then tell you all is good. Attenuators many times have linearity problems meaning that they don't attenuate flatly accross their attenuation range. Repeatability might also be a problem. This means that when you request an attenuation level based on an incoming power level, and repeat that request, your attenuator might not be giving you exactly the same attenuation level time and again. A lab must spend a fair amount of time to check such specification at many power levels and many wavelength. We do!
