Burleigh WA-7000 Multi Wavelength Meter Calibration and Repair Services
The Burleigh WA‑7000 was the first multi‑wavelength meter produced by Burleigh Instruments before the product line was acquired by EXFO in 2000. EXFO continued manufacturing the WA‑7000 series for several years under both the Burleigh name and their own grey‑label branding. Eventually, the entire wavelength meter line was discontinued, and as of today, no new EXFO wavemeter series has been introduced.
Simbol has worked closely with EXFO to ensure long‑term support for both Burleigh‑branded and EXFO‑branded wavelength meters. With more than two decades of experience, our technicians continue to provide complete calibration and repair services for the WA‑7000, WA‑7100, WA‑1100, and WA‑1150 families.
HeNe Laser Replacement for WA‑7000 Multi Wavelength Meters
Unlike the WA‑1600 and WA‑1650 models, which use stabilized HeNe lasers, the WA‑7000 series relies on a non‑stabilized Helium‑Neon (HeNe) laser. The original Melles‑Griot HeNe tubes used in these instruments have been discontinued for many years, creating global shortages.
To maintain serviceability, Simbol now uses brand‑new HeNe lasers from Pacific LaserTec as direct replacements. These lasers offer excellent reliability and compatibility with the WA‑7000 optical design. Simbol is also an authorized distributor for Pacific LaserTec HeNe lasers:
Repair Limitations for Aging Burleigh Instruments
The Burleigh wavelength meter family has been out of production for more than 20 years. While Simbol maintains strong repair success rates, certain limitations apply due to the age of the electronics:
- Cleaning and alignment of internal optics
- Replacement of the non‑stabilized HeNe laser
- Adjustment of optical paths and reference components
