The Jonard SPARC FIRE SPCO-1 Core Alignment Fusion Splicer provides precise single-fiber alignment with six motors, fast average splice times and low typical splice loss. Quick Mode completes a splice in approximately four seconds, while the integrated heater supports 20 to 60 mm protection sleeves with heating times starting at nine seconds. A 7000 mAh battery provides more than 400 splice-and-heat cycles for field installation, FTTx construction and fiber network maintenance.
The Jonard SPARC FIRE SPCO-1 Core Alignment Fusion Splicer is a professional single-fiber splicing platform designed for accurate alignment, fast operation and dependable field performance. Its six-motor core alignment system positions the fiber cores before fusion, helping technicians produce consistent splices across common single-mode, multimode, dispersion-shifted, non-zero dispersion-shifted and bend-insensitive fibers.
Designed to reduce preparation and processing time, the SPCO-1 offers an average splice time of approximately four seconds in Quick Mode, five seconds in Single-Mode Mode and seven seconds in Auto Mode. The integrated protection sleeve heater provides a quick heating time of approximately nine seconds and an average heating time of approximately 13 seconds.
The rechargeable 7000 mAh battery supports more than 400 operating cycles, with each cycle including splicing and heating. The fusion splicer can also operate while connected to external power, allowing the battery to charge during use. This combination of battery capacity and continuous powered operation makes the SPCO-1 suitable for field installation, production, restoration and maintenance work.
The SPCO-1 uses core alignment to position the optical cores of the two prepared fibers before fusion. Unlike basic fixed V-groove alignment, core alignment evaluates the fiber images and uses motorized positioning to reduce core offset before the arc is applied.
The fusion splicer automatically focuses on the fibers and examines the prepared end faces for damage, contamination and cleaving problems. If the fibers do not meet the selected limits, the instrument can display a warning so the technician can remove, clean and cleave the fibers again before proceeding.
Core alignment is particularly useful when fiber geometry, concentricity or field conditions could produce alignment differences. Proper fiber preparation, clean V-grooves, suitable splice mode selection and regular arc calibration remain essential for obtaining consistent results.
The Jonard SPCO-1 provides several operating modes for balancing speed and splice performance. Quick Mode completes a splice in approximately four seconds on average. Single-Mode Mode averages approximately five seconds, while Auto Mode averages approximately seven seconds.
Following the splice, the fiber can be transferred to the integrated heater. The heater supports protection sleeves from 20 to 60 mm and provides a quick heating cycle of approximately nine seconds. Average heating time is approximately 13 seconds.
The heater system supports multiple heat modes for different protection sleeve types and sizes. Heating temperature, heating time and preheat temperature can be adjusted within user-configurable modes when required by the protection sleeve application.
| Fiber Type | Typical Splice Loss |
|---|---|
| Single-Mode Fiber | 0.01 dB |
| Multimode Fiber | 0.01 dB |
| Dispersion-Shifted Fiber | 0.03 dB |
| Non-Zero Dispersion-Shifted Fiber | 0.03 dB |
| G.657 Bend-Insensitive Fiber | 0.0 dB |
Typical splice-loss figures are based on specified operating conditions. Actual performance depends on fiber type, cleave quality, cleanliness, arc calibration, electrode condition and splice-mode configuration. The estimated splice loss displayed by the splicer is a reference value and should not be used as the sole acceptance measurement for a fiber link.
When Auto Start is enabled, the SPCO-1 can begin splicing automatically after the prepared fibers are positioned and the fusion chamber cover is closed. The automatic process includes fiber focusing, image inspection, alignment, pre-fusion and final fusion.
Technicians can also start a splice manually using the SET control. Pause options allow the operation to stop at selected stages so that cleave angles, fiber alignment or other conditions can be reviewed before fusion continues.
Preset splice modes are available for common fiber combinations. User-programmable modes allow qualified operators to adjust parameters for specialized fibers or applications, including arc power, arc time, cleaning arc, fiber overlap and alignment limits.
The rechargeable 7000 mAh battery provides more than 400 splice-and-heat operating cycles under stated conditions. Power-saving settings allow users to configure automatic monitor shutdown and splicer shutdown times to help preserve battery capacity.
The SPARC FIRE CORE can operate while connected to external power, allowing the battery to charge while the splicer is being used. The removable battery design also allows a second compatible battery to be charged externally while another battery powers the unit.
The SPCO-1 includes a maintenance menu for evaluating and calibrating critical operating parameters. Available procedures include LED calibration, dust checking, fiber-position adjustment, motor calibration, electrode stabilization and arc calibration.
Daily calibration is recommended when the splicer is used regularly or when operating conditions change. The V-grooves, fiber stabilizers, illumination LEDs and optical surfaces should also be inspected and cleaned using approved tools and procedures.
Electrode condition directly affects splice loss and splice strength. Jonard recommends checking the electrode tips regularly and replacing the electrodes after approximately 4,500 arc discharges. The splicer can display a replacement warning when the current electrode count reaches 5,500 arc discharges.
After electrode replacement, the electrode stabilization and arc calibration procedures should be completed. Only specified electrodes should be installed, and electrode service must be performed with the splicer switched off and disconnected from AC and battery power.

The SPCO-1 is supplied with a broad collection of accessories and fiber preparation tools. The package includes the power system, battery pack, SOC-related holders, carrying and work accessories, cleaning supplies, a precision fiber cleaver and common fiber preparation tools.
Before splicing, install the protection sleeve, strip the cable and fiber coatings, clean the exposed fiber and produce a precision cleave. The prepared fibers should be placed into the V-grooves without sliding the end faces across the groove surfaces. The fiber ends must remain between the V-groove edges and electrode tips.
Cleanliness is essential. Dust on the fiber, V-grooves, clamps, cameras or optical surfaces can produce alignment errors, poor splice estimates or inconsistent operation. Fiber scraps should be collected immediately in the supplied disposal container, and suitable eye protection must be worn during preparation and splicing.
Safety notice: The SPCO-1 produces an electrical arc and must never be operated in a flammable or explosive environment. Do not touch the electrodes while the splicer is powered. Use only the specified battery, power adapter, electrodes and maintenance accessories, and read the user manual before operation.
The Jonard SPARC FIRE SPCO-1 Core Alignment Fusion Splicer combines six-motor core alignment, fast splicing, rapid sleeve heating and extended battery operation in a compact professional system. Its automatic functions, configurable splice modes, built-in diagnostics and comprehensive accessory package make it suitable for field technicians, fiber contractors and telecommunications network teams.
