Fujikura FAT-04 Fiber Arrangement Tool provides an easy linear-travel method for arranging individual optical fibers into a temporary ribbon for compatible mass fusion splicing workflows. It uses FAA-03A ribbon-forming adhesive to support clean stripping without the adhesive buildup associated with some tape-based ribbonizing methods. The kit includes adhesive, applicator blocks, cleaning swabs, clips, and foam pads. Available from Simbol Test Systems, an authorized Canadian distributor and service center for AFL and Fujikura products.

The Fujikura FAT-04 Fiber Arrangement Tool is designed to arrange individual optical fibers into a temporary ribbon for compatible mass fusion splicing and ribbon fiber preparation workflows. It uses a straightforward linear-travel method to help technicians position fibers and apply ribbon-forming adhesive in a controlled, repeatable manner.
Loose fibers must be properly organized before they can be processed as a ribbon in a compatible mass fusion splicing workflow. The FAT-04 provides the tooling and consumable materials needed to form an organized fiber ribbon without relying on conventional tape-based ribbonizing methods.
The standard FAT-04 package includes FAA-03A ribbon-forming adhesive, paste applicator blocks, cleaning swabs, CL-02 clips, and SP-1 foam pads. A spare paste applicator is included so ribbon preparation can continue while the other applicator is being cleaned.
The Fujikura FAT-04 Fiber Arrangement Tool helps technicians prepare loose optical fibers for compatible ribbon-splicing processes. Its linear-travel arrangement method supports an organized workflow for positioning fibers, applying adhesive, and forming the temporary ribbon.
A principal advantage of the FAT-04 is its use of FAA-03A Ribbon-Forming Adhesive. The adhesive holds the arranged fibers together for preparation and compatible mass fusion splicing while supporting clean coating removal during subsequent stripping.
Compared with some tape-based ribbonizing methods, the adhesive is designed to avoid excessive buildup inside the stripping tool. During stripping, the coating residue remains together as a single piece of debris that can be removed and cleaned from the stripper more easily.
If the temporary ribbon must later be separated, alcohol can be used to release the fibers into individual strands. This provides flexibility for applications in which fibers need to be ribbonized for one stage of the process and separated afterward.
The FAT-04 is supplied with a 4 oz. dispensing bottle of FAA-03A adhesive, paste applicator blocks, cleaning swabs, CL-02 clips, and SP-1 foam pads. These components work together to support fiber positioning, adhesive application, ribbon formation, and routine cleanup.
Replacement foam pads and paste applicator blocks are available separately. FAA-03A adhesive can also be ordered in either a 4 oz. dispensing bottle or a larger 0.5-liter bottle, allowing users to select the quantity that best matches their production volume.
Consumable condition and tool cleanliness can affect the ribbon-forming process. Foam pads, applicator blocks, clips, and cleaning materials should be inspected regularly and replaced when worn, contaminated, or unsuitable for continued use.
The Fujikura FAT-04 Fiber Arrangement Tool is suitable for professional fiber optic applications requiring individual fibers to be temporarily organized into a ribbon. Typical uses include:
