Fujikura ELCT2-20A Fusion Splicer Replacement Electrodes are supplied as a matched pair for compatible Fujikura FSM field and ribbon fusion splicers. Replacing worn or contaminated electrodes and completing the required arc calibration help maintain stable arc discharge and consistent fiber heating. Compatibility includes selected FSM-50, FSM-60, FSM-70, and FSM-80 Series models. Available from Simbol Test Systems, an authorized Canadian distributor and service center for AFL and Fujikura products.
Fujikura ELCT2-20A Fusion Splicer Replacement Electrodes are consumable replacement components for compatible Fujikura FSM field and ribbon fusion splicers. Supplied as a matched pair, the electrodes generate the controlled electrical arc used to heat and fuse prepared optical fiber end-faces.
Repeated fusion cycles gradually wear the electrode tips and may allow deposits to accumulate around the fusion chamber. Worn, contaminated, damaged, or incorrectly installed electrodes can affect arc stability, fiber heating, arc calibration, estimated splice loss, and overall splice consistency.
The ELCT2-20A is associated with several earlier generations of Fujikura fusion splicers. Because compatibility can vary between single-fiber, ribbon, regional, and Plus models, the complete fusion splicer model should be confirmed before ordering.
The Fujikura ELCT2-20A electrode pair is designed to restore the correct electrode configuration in compatible Fujikura fusion splicers. Both electrodes should normally be replaced together to maintain balanced arc geometry and uniform fiber heating.
The Fujikura ELCT2-20A is commonly specified for selected fusion splicers in the following product families:
This compatibility list is a selection guide rather than a substitute for model verification. Confirm the full splicer model, suffix, existing electrode marking, and applicable service documentation before installing replacement electrodes.
Fusion splicer electrodes operate under repeated high-voltage electrical discharges. Each fusion cycle contributes to gradual tip wear. Environmental contamination, fiber type, splice mode, electrode gap, arc power, and maintenance practices can also affect electrode condition.
Changes in electrode shape or cleanliness may alter the position, intensity, or stability of the fusion arc. This can contribute to unsuccessful arc calibration, inconsistent fiber heating, unusual splice appearance, recurring fusion errors, or changes in estimated splice loss.
The fusion splicer’s electrode counter provides useful maintenance guidance, but the splice count should not be the only consideration. Physical electrode condition, calibration results, fusion performance, and the applicable Fujikura maintenance instructions should also be reviewed.
Turn off the fusion splicer before removing or installing electrodes. Follow the model-specific Fujikura operating and maintenance instructions, and avoid touching the pointed electrode tips with fingers or tools.
Replace both electrodes as a matched pair. Combining a new electrode with a worn electrode may create uneven arc geometry and inconsistent fiber heating. Confirm that both electrodes are correctly seated, aligned, and secured before operating the splicer.
After installation, complete the electrode stabilization and arc-calibration procedures specified for the fusion splicer. Use clean, correctly stripped and cleaved fibers during calibration.
Electrode replacement is also an appropriate time to inspect and clean the V-grooves, fiber clamps, mirrors, objective lenses, wind protector, and fusion chamber. Contamination in these areas can cause alignment or fusion problems that may resemble electrode wear.
Simbol Test Systems supplies professional Fujikura fusion splicers, replacement electrodes, V-grooves, fiber holders, cleavers, thermal strippers, batteries, power supplies, cleaning products, and related maintenance parts. As an authorized Canadian distributor and service center for AFL and Fujikura products, we support customers with product selection, repair, maintenance, and technical service.
Electrode compatibility should always be verified using the complete fusion splicer model and existing electrode marking. Simbol Test Systems can help confirm whether the ELCT2-20A is appropriate and provide professional in-lab electrode replacement, cleaning, arc calibration, maintenance, and repair service.
