Adjustable Temperature for Different Coating Materials

A lower temperature may be suitable for coatings that soften easily, while a higher setting may be needed for materials requiring additional thermal conditioning. The lowest temperature that provides clean and consistent stripping should generally be established through a controlled process evaluation.

Heating duration is also adjustable. Temperature and heating time should be optimized together to remove the coating without overheating the fiber, leaving excessive residue, or unnecessarily extending the preparation cycle.

Blade Options for 80 µm and 125 µm Fibers

The standard HTS-12 is supplied with a 125/250 µm blade assembly. This configuration supports compatible fibers with approximately 125 µm cladding and 250 µm coating.

An optional 125/400 µm blade assembly is available for compatible fibers with 125 µm cladding and 400 µm coating. An 80/160 µm blade assembly supports selected specialty fibers with approximately 80 µm cladding and 160 µm coating.

Fiber dimensions should be confirmed from the applicable fiber specification rather than estimated from the nominal product description. Coating material, concentricity, dimensional tolerance, and fiber construction can affect stripping performance.

FH-40 and FH-100 Fiber Holder Compatibility

The HTS-12 accepts compatible Fujikura FH-40 and FH-100 Series fiber holders. Using a holder helps maintain fiber positioning during stripping and supports controlled transfer between preparation tools and the fusion splicer.

HTS-12 Blade Selection Guide

Select the blade according to both the cladding and coating diameters. For standard 125 µm fiber with a 250 µm coating, use the 125/250 µm blade supplied with the HTS-12.

Use the 125/400 µm blade for compatible 125 µm cladding fibers with 400 µm coatings. Use the 80/160 µm blade only for compatible specialty fibers with approximately 80 µm cladding and 160 µm coating.

After changing the blade assembly, verify fiber centering, stripping performance, glass surface condition, coating-residue removal, and the selected heating parameters before returning the tool to production use.

Care and Maintenance

Inspect the blade assembly, heater, holder interface, and surrounding surfaces regularly. Remove coating debris using suitable cleaning tools and follow Fujikura maintenance instructions.
